He says to me (in the worlds sweetest, most polite voice I might add) "Mommy can you PLEEEEASE bring my Darth Maul costume when you come back for my party?" (ugh). "How about I bring your Darth Vader or Spiderman, or Superman, or Batman....etc...etc...)" But, no mommy, I wanna be Darth Maul. I really like to pretend I'm Darth Maul".
I drop him off, and head back home to drop Becca off with David and I contemplate whether or not I should bring that darn costume. All I could think about was all those cute princesses, fairies, Buzz Lightyears, Ninja Turtles, happy Disney Characters and Superheros...not a single scary costume in the bunch. I gave my wonderful friend Jennifer a call. She told me exactly what I needed to be reminded. She said to me, "We spend so much time trying to make sure our children fit in and conform. Megan he wants to be Darth Maul, let that boy be Darth Maul. Let him be the "different" one". (It totally helps that Jen's a HUGE Star Wars fan). I totally agree (and probably called Jen because I knew she'd say that!) haha So my little man was Darth Maul, and yes a few of the adults asked what he was supposed to be, so they got a little education on Star Wars this afternoon. :)
