New Home Projects: D & M's Room

I can't wait to finally decorate our Master Bed/Bathroom. I love that our room is all about romance and love. It's so, "Us" BUT I have NEVER finished a master bed/bath!!! In our FIRST home, those were the ONLY 2 rooms NOT painted or anything. By the time we moved into out second house, we finally purchased new dressers and nightstands....as for our bed...I bought that when I graduated from high school! We NEED a grownup bed, we need paint, we need a ceiling fan, and a new comforter (since we have had ours for almost 7 years!) haha

I definitely want to keep with the whole Paris Romance Theme with our wedding photos ect...but I can't wait to get started on this room and FINALLY redo my master bedroom!!!

So here's our bed...it was a Queen that I bought when I graduated high school over 10 years ago!!! I'm thinking we need to upgrade to a King sometime and I have always wanted a "REAL" headboard.
I LOVE the dresser/mirror we bought 3 years ago...but the giant flat screen that is sitting on the dresser needs to be hung on the wall, so that's another lil' project we'll have to do.  (the old oval mirror was actually my mom's when she was young and I inherited it, and David refinished a few years ago for Rebecca's room...so it's not going anywhere)
Need to pick out some paint for sure...I am so so so over chalk-white walls. I would also (once I find a bed spread I like) to find a wallpaper I like and do an accent wall (probably the wall with the huge window---to which I would love to find curtains and make custom window treatments)
These are little touches I will always keep...floral arrangements from our wedding, the FIRST precious moment statue David ever bought for me and so many other little nick knacks that I will never replace.
We need a ceiling fan or lighting fixture. The only lighting we get in our room comes from the window during the day, or our master bathroom at night....or that teeny Eifle Tower lamp (I got in college---see it there in the FAR right corner?)
Next will be "Operation: Rid of Red" When I was a first-time home-decorator I was all about the deep red. I made LOTS and LOTS red floral arrangements/artwork and I am trying to slowly phase it out. I attempted to do so in our kiddos playroom, but my hubby told me that he really likes the way I decorated the house and would prefer to keep the dark colors.  So he suggested I should maybe omit the red/green/brown combo from a different room....so I would love to brighten my room up and do gray, butter cream/yellow and black in my room (keeping the Paris prints, but brightening the room up)
Here's our Master Bath---Not a whole lot done to it---but again, I have some super special, sentimental items on display...my dried wedding bouquet next to my porcelain wedding cake topper is sitting next to a hat box that has my white honeymoon silk nighty tucked away in it -Also a black statue I got as a wedding gift that signifies LOVE is sitting on Dave's vanity.
I am excited to get to work on our master bed/bathrooms, but am happy for now with what we have had (for the past 6 years). I love that our room represents us as a romantic couple...not necessarily "mommy and daddy" like the rest of our home does!

Happy DIY'ing ALL!
